How do we know that it is the season holiday? Of course, this is get colder and maybe even snow where you live. But the real sign for the nerds web is 24Ways calendar annual Advent web geeks, shines in all its glory to promote standards.
This year, 24Ways is, with the rest of us, embracing HTML5 and CSS3. Helpful hints, tips and tutorials so far this year are taking Christian Heilmann HTML5 Local Storage API to content outside of HTML5 State audio connection and Scott Schiller.
On the side of the CSS Inayaili de León has a list of wishes great CSS, which includes the comments tab Atkins, limb CSSWG which deals with a large number of raised possibilities in the room. One remarkable element in the room of León is something that we knew not existed: la: group selector of-moz-any (). Although not yet some formal CSS spec, suggests any() selector has a good chance to do in a single day.
Any() selector would be useful to shorten the code, for example, because HTML5 encourages multiple tags h1, which could be all sorts of depths in the page, you could simply write (to borrow example of Mozilla):
-moz-everything (section, article, side, nav) h1 {font-size: 25px;}Once again, any() selector is a just a proposal at this point, but it works in the latest beta of Firefox, if you want to test.
Other good articles in 24ways this year so far include a blow of eye design workflows and how you can improve your own and perennial favorite everybody - how to avoid flash content for the incorporation of the fonts in your page.
24Ways this year also has a new twist: when the series is finished, there will be a limited edition print annual. You can order a copy today, and all proceeds will go to UNICEF.
