Pennsylvania Society Journal day: two. (Plazoo)
Good Sunday morning Member enthusiasts. We are from you this morning from a very busy Amtrak train transporting Manhattanskyline society of Pennsylvania revellers to Philly, Harrisburg and points further West. We are a little tired and carefully sous-caféine, before we take our inevitable nap between Philly and Elizabethtown, we wanted to leave you some reflections joined the Pennsylvania society 2010. Saturday morning began, as it always does with Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association seminar at the Metropolitan Club on the edge of central park. This annual event, organized by captains of industry, captains of industry, has an audience of several hundred power-brokers, policy makers, types of policies and good hearing, us. The entire company is supposed to be off-one record, and journalists are theoretically not allowed in the cavernous lecture room where decision-makers share rehashed versions of their stump speeches. Journalists, of understanding, are supposed to be confined to the entry, any better slow legislators cherry-pick and hungover. In practice, however, we are authorized to enter the space conference organizers look the other way to much the same way your parents used to when they check the liquor cabinet and realize that their bottle of Smirnoff litre was topped off with water from the tap. Yeah... right. As you did not do so completely. Anyway, because it was Tweeted already, it is not breaking the sanctity of the confessional noted that Snarlen told a joke that cannot be repeated on a family's blog and that Pat Toomey gave a speech on the economy that was so moving and charismatic that we immediately leave the room and coffee. Our second stop of the day introduces us to currency, an Indian restaurant is the 50th Street to a reception honoring United States Rep Charlie Dent, R - 15 district. Fresh (ISH) off the coast of Democratic victory John Callahan, tooth has spent a large part of the engaaged weekend in one of the traditional rituals of Pennsylvania: stuffing rumors all what that future aspirations leader never entirely. In case you've trapped under something heavy for the last two days and have been unable to get near to a newspaper or Web site policy, then you probably know already the tooth to be mentioned as a challenger possible u.s. Senator Bob Casey, D-in Pennsylvania, in 2012. Tooth were reluctant, insisting on the fact that he had been so busy the legislative work of things and get his committee assignments (it is on appropriations avail now), that he had not only had time to even consider running against Casey. But he never completely slammed the door. See? Clever as. After the tooth ' do we directed the hotel crank some copy editing today General Ledger. Rested and updated, we lifted the tuxedo-ed and headed over to the Waldorf for the receptions leading to the main event dinner Saturday night. If you've never gone to PA, it kind of difficult to explain the ridiculous opulence of many of these functions. So we'll just put this way: when your desktop is celebrating Christmas, its best day, could have someone sculpture in large slices of meat of mystery and slaps it roller dinner tights, a reception, we have witnessed in had a risotto publishes the station, where you can order custom your own extremely flat labor-intensive rice plate. We took a short walk through the hall outside of Waldorf (site of the dinner) ball. any blinking on said terms of famous spirit of John Lennon performance of Royal order of 1963 or 1964: "people in the right seats markets, type your hands." You can just rattle your jewellery. "Cling to for a bit for dinner with some friends to a formidable French joint (mmmmm... stew) and returned to the Waldorf for the inevitable round after parties. One of the first ran us along the way in which proved to be a hot by the mega-law firm Dilworth Paxson harassing reception, we experienced MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who has a capacity of Zelig-like to turn to the most unexpected places. When we asked to weigh on the legacy of Governor Ed Rendell years as Mayor of Philly, rhapsodic waxed Matthews even after he gave eight years of the but the head of the ship of State a success. "He brought an attitude"cause"of New York," the city, said Matthews. "I think it brings a sense of optimism." Backwards and wanted to reveling, we experienced a node people protested outside the Waldorf. Their mission: to inform the population about the combination of chemicals injected into the water which divides Marcellus shale, releasing gas trapped inside. This process, as if you didn't know, is hilarious (and apparently unironically) called "fracking". Their ranks included a showing that altitude readout of sign, "Corbett: we don't want your Fracking fire water in New York." Motorists on Lexington Avenue, very probably be totally insensitive to both a: fracking and b: the identity of the Corbett in question were perhaps naturally indifferent to this argument. Which isn't to say that he did not do good because he did Street Theatre. Speaking, if you would like some indication of the right-of-way and influence industry drilling now wields, we would you refer to the reception at the W Hotel on Lexington Coalition Marcellus shale. It was a hot and busy ticket. It included, based on our unofficial sample, large glasses of ice apparently stirred in face of quinine and given kissing sweet farewell by wedges of lime with vodka bottles. The evening also included some fairly decent techno funk spun by DJ competent and some white regrettable dance. It was also where we found Marcellus Shale Coalition boss Katherine Klaber and asked him to weight on events. Klaber told us that the industry had achieved much better disclose bouillabaisse of chemicals used in water fracking (uncontrollable snicker). "It is time that we put it to bed," she says. In the Waldorf we also reached a so-exclusive-it-pinches reception organized by the Association of Pennsylvania energy. Our lack of invitation has not proved an obstacle, since a wave of confidence and a nod to bouncers seemed as good as a piece of paper with our names on it. Further, to midnight, it seemed quality control became a bit more lenient. Here, we found that the Auditor General Jack Wagner taking justice in one corner, can we see ever new, a certain Member of southwestern Pennsylvania contributing to what we can only assume have been well lubricated backup vocals on "in the still of the night". At this time, we about taking our limit for the weekend and headed towards our painfully euro hotel, where we hurt things with a projection of "Indiana Jones and the last crusade." After not spent the weekend immersed in the fantasy, we had no problem suspend our disbelief to look at. All rights: it is another in the books. See you all back in Manhattan next year.

eBookstores (Plazoo)
The library from Google deal with local bookstores: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/07/bu...okstore & st = CSE have me thinking about what a library might look like. The web template is quite obvious and already exists. But what is the brick and mortar equivalent? I think that finally it might go something like this: series of LCD screens (24-30 "") with connections to view books online Slaved on a larger screen through the walls of the latest privacy books or screens with video any (so that the neighboring cubicle cannot tell what you are looking for to) sorting chair comfortable, adjustable, or simple Chair for you to sit for perhaps 30% of stations, LCD you 2nd. seat (or a loveseat) for having an eye blow and probably also some free chairs for a 3rd person. seat to be reversed at the end of the line, a flag indicating what station was open card (sensors in the seat would automatically detect whether someone was) prospective buyer comes, see where they can host, perhaps an ad or two for a book, goes and sits. Possibly a RFID card, B & N card or whatever would be detected or glissée or major credit cards and they you have the program installation and references. Screen say hello, "Mr. Jones, show some books of interest, etc. You may browse or talk on the screen, to tell him what you want. You may browse thru the book by screen, keyboard or the floor if you want a coffee, you could order it (what you like is stored), they get to your station. World book review, recommendations, etc., is available. If you want to talk to someone, click and they would come (or better, they would come to the screen and you could talk with them) connections to Librarything or Shelfari, you could check if you have the book (also used to generate lists of preference for recomenadations (e.g.: you love author such n.)) (For example, it is a new book....) order (e-book or ordinary paper) is just a click or two more later. If you were a reader of electronic books with you, it would download towards it. If you have been giving the book as a gift, the system can check whether they had already there. I do not see the aisles roaming customers to browse physical books much more time. Perhaps 10 years or not. But I think the model will be over, and it becomes more a question of how the book is selected and purchased. For some, it would be online. But for others, I think it moves more than a type library model, with reading stations, etc. There are people who want to spend time in a bookstore, browse through the pages, and this gives it to them.
